Erika Levy - “Pyros”

From her debut LP, White Limo, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Erika Levy has just sent over the melancholic “Pyros.”

The track begins with Levy’s magnificent vocal strewn across the top of some delicately placed notes from an electric piano. The mood is quite dark, satisfying our quest for a Sharon Van Etten-esque vibe and pulling us further into “Pyros” with each line of emotionally-charged lyrics.

Initially, “Pyros” lends itself as more of an intimate solo performance, until the arrival of the rhythm at around the one-minute mark. The beat is gently pushed back in the mix, allowing the listener to find themselves fully enchanted upon the arrival of a heavenly vocal harmony.

As the track progresses, it climbs into a slow and steady crescendo, with swelling sounds of a trumpet and some deep, round notes from the bass. These additional elements provide a fulfilling wave of sound, remarkably saturating the soundscape until “Pyros” reaches its epic peak.

Levy enlisted Germaine Dunes to record and produce “Pyros,” ensuring that it brings the listener complete and total sonic satisfaction. We hope that you give it its fair share of spins before ultimately enjoying the rest of White Limo, now available everywhere.
