Emily Breeze - “The Bell”
Bristol-based noir pop artist Emily Breeze returns with her late ‘70s CBGB’s inspired new wave anthem, “The Bell,” taken from her upcoming album, Rapture, due out early next year.
The single is a vintage Blondie/Patti Smith-style pop smash, and I adore it to pieces. I said this in my assessment of Emily Breeze's previous song, “Ordinary Life,” but this is yet another that would be at home on Parallel Lines. Musically, the song has a relentless thumping kick, an almost toy-like organ, guitars churning up chords... all of these elements get you in the mood for going out and getting lashed. Additionally, the lyrics are humorous and nicely written. This is definitely one to check out!
“The Bell” is the third single from Emily’s upcoming solo album, Rapture, which she describes as “A collection of coming-of (middle) age stories which celebrate flamboyant failure, excess and acceptance.” It was recorded at Rockfield Studios, with all star players Rob Norbury (lead guitar), Andy Sutor (drums), Graham Dalzell (bass), Helen Stanley (synth/keys), and produced by Stew Jackson (Massive Attack).
