Elora - “Growing Pains”

Brooklyn-based indie artist Elora returns to the blog with the chill and dreamy sounds of “Growing Pains.”

The gentle strums from a clean and reverberating electric guitar set the song into motion, with the soft swelling of keys rising to fill in the crevasses of the arrangement. The vibe is laid back, slightly melancholic, and permeating a sense of nostalgia that all listeners will, most assuredly, find completely enchanting.

Elora’s vocal performance is predominantly raw, allowing emotion to guide the lyrics into your ears. Part of the nostalgic atmosphere stems from the subject matter, which calls to attention the artist’s effort in laying out all of her fears and finding solace in the conclusion that she still has “time to grow.”

As “Growing Pains” progresses, a soft and vintage-hued rhythm section finds its place in the arrangement, with warm bass and a steady beat that propel the song forward. By midpoint, Elora reaches into her upper register, hitting the listener with a mesmerizing delivery that will, no doubt, bring everyone back for multiple listens.

The tail end of the track is filled with ghostly layers of additional vocals, wrapped in a thick sheen of reverb as new guitar textures emerge across the sonic landscape. “Growing Pains” is best served through headphones, but is bound to sound just as amazing cranked on the car stereo as we reach the end of another workweek.

Growing Pains” comes from Elora’s new EP, Command Her, which is now available everywhere. Connect with Elora online: Instagram | Spotify | Website | Bandcamp
