Ella Stallion - “Permanent Stay”

USA-based husband and wife duo Danny and Joy Davis, aka Ella Stallion, have completely swept us off of our feet with their latest single, “Permanent Stay.”

A synthy swell guides in the remarkable, finger-plucked sounds of an acoustic guitar, allowing listeners to become immediately enchanted by the track’s folksy demeanor. Melodic notes from an electric piano ring out, subtly populating the spaces of the soundscape.

As Joy takes the vocal helm, it is immediately apparent that she’s doing exactly what she was born to do. She gloriously delivers lyrics to our ears as though some sort of nostalgic gospel, void of any modern digital manipulation that would otherwise distract from the raw, vintage-tinged production.

The deep notes of a dexterous bass line weave their way through the arrangement, eventually bringing about the arrival of layers upon layers of angelic auxiliary vocals. On the hook, Danny provides some width to the sonic landscape with a lower, breathy harmony, shortly followed by the emergence of the drum kit.

Permanent Stay” is bit more energetic and uplifting than our usually folksy flavor, but it is unmistakably the perfect soundtrack to any cross-country roadtrip. On the final third, fans of reverberating and ethereal lead guitar will find themselves amidst an ocean of ear candy, likely securing Ella Stallion as one of their new favorite acts.
