Driftwood from New York State, USA, have just released the gorgeous and slow, indie-folk rocker, “Get it Done.” The song is irresistibly atmospheric, filled with slick, nostalgic textures.

Get it Done” is driven by a deep kick drum that grounds the track with a plush, earthy weight. Complementing this heartbeat are the mellow tones of acoustic and tremolo electric guitars, which shimmer elegantly with rich texture. The track has an alluringly slow groove, which effortlessly draws you into the composition.

Over these layers, slide guitar adds emotional complexity from the half way mark, while piano sustains with lush richness. Beneath it all, thick bass brings soothing warmth; while soaring, reflective strings softly pad the composition. At the crescendo, we are treated to a satisfying burst of vibrant intensity that elevates the track to truly cinematic heights.

Driftwood delivers a restrained yet soulful vocal performance that has a pleasing simplicity in the cadence and phrasing. The lyrics arrive via a sincere sense of emotional weariness that strikingly enhances the melancholic and reflective vibe. Surrounded by light touches of harmonising vocals, the whole delivery is nothing short of timeless.

Driftwood add that the song was: “Recorded in a flash straight out of a serious break up, it’s one of the most raw recordings we’ve ever made. It was mixed by the Lumineers last engineer. We planned on including it on our last album as the single but it was picked up by an up-and-coming director for a short film that needed more production time. Well worth the wait, the film, entitled Vital Instruments surprised the crew and director when it swept up multiple awards at a few international festivals. With the public release of the film due out this Fall, we decided to put out the single around the same time.”

Get it Done” can only be described as an instant classic, where the track’s simplicity is precisely what makes it so powerful. Connect with Driftwood: Spotify | Instagram | Facebook | Website | YouTube
