Devarrow - “Lightning Bolt”

Halifax, Nova Scotia-based singer-songwriter Graham Ereaux, aka Devarrow, is back on the blog with some signature surf-folk via “Lightning Bolt.”

The ingredients here are quite simple: drum kit, bass, and a bit of guitar, but the addition of a carefree whistle makes for a very splendid and melodic ear worm. In fact, it’s so catchy that within five seconds of hearing it, we knew we had to share the tune on our site.

Lightning Bolt” is a very rare breed of a folk track, as though Fleet Foxes penned a song after a night of binge-listening the entire catalogue of The Beach Boys. It’s upbeat and cheerful, yet stripped-back and raw enough to nestle itself into our folksy niche for analogue goodness.

Of course, Devarrow has always had a knack for using his voice to draw us in as listeners– “Lightning Bolt” is absolutely no exception. His vocal performance maintains the same authentic 1960s vibe that had previously won us over as fans, and we have jumped at the opportunity to share everything he sends over to us.

Lightning Bolt” is now available everywhere, along with Devarrow’s new LP, Heart Shaped Rock, which we know for a fact is filled to its brim with some indie-folk-bangers. Press that play button and get down with some Devarrow today!
