Dead in Love - “Give Me Shelter”

Sweden-based duo Dead in Love have just released the strikingly unique “Give Me Shelter.” The track can only be described as an inspired fusion of classic garage rock and a Native American spiritual chant.
“Give Me Shelter” opens with electric lead guitar that slickly drives home the main hook. These cool tones feel effortless and inviting. As the song progresses, gritty rhythm guitar brings weight to the groove over the main sections. Drums also make an entrance, starting with a pulsing kick drum that provides a warm heartbeat over the verses. Over the chorus sections, more elements of the kit assert themselves, creating an irresistible swagger. The track ebbs and flows hypnotically as layers are removed and added.
The lead vocal of this track mimics the main hook of the lead guitar. The delivery is alluring and oozes passion. Over the chorus sections, the vocal transforms into what can only be described as a Native American spiritual chant. The supporting backing vocals lift this chant into something that feels mystical, spiritual, and enticing.
Dead in Love describe the recording process and meaning behind the track: ““Give Me Shelter” (was) recorded live on a classic 6-channel cassette porta studio, as we prefer the analogue soundscape. Written during the misery of November 2021. We needed to spit out a few lines of text to have the strength to fight through the struggle that we didn't know would continue even today.”

The single comes complete with its respective Side B, “Give Me Shelter Outro (Improvisation),“ which profoundly expands upon the cinematic atmosphere of Side A, utilizing ethereal layers of vocals in order to further extend the initial, spiritual and dreamlike soundscape.
