We are very pleased to have Nashville-based band Dallas Ugly on the blog with the breezy sounds of their new slice of Americana: “Born Crying.”
Brace yourselves for a hefty dose of nostalgia as this cut digs reasonably deep into “the inner child you can never leave completely behind.” And when you couple the subject matter with a rich and flavorful arrangement, you’ve got yourself one heck of a folk-rock jingle.
“Born Crying” comes complete with a jaunty and gritty guitar atop a thick and creamy rhythm section. The vocal delivery provides a melodious vigor that will instantly win the attention of listeners, but if that doesn’t work, the harmonies that sweep into the song will surely finish the job.
A glorious lead guitar lines the hook, offering plenty of ear candy and adding to the likelihood of an ensuing ear worm. In its near-five-minute runtime, your ears shall be filled with moments of strings and a carefree production that has been crafted to ensure that, by the end of “Born Crying,” you’re bound to feel a little happier to be alive.
