biz colletti - “Half of You”

Nashville’s biz colletti is no stranger to writing powerful and enchanting music, as she has already earned sync deals that have landed her in Grey’s Anatomy, All American, Selling Sunset, and many more. But success aside, colletti understands the pain of not being able to give 100% of yourself to something you’re supposed to love, and she’s beautifully captured this sentiment in her latest track, “Half of You.”

This song is a gentle ride and first piqued our interest with the fantastic and reverberated guitar at its introduction. Even though it is electric, it retains its raw aesthetic, complete with string squeaks as evidence that it’s being played by an actual human being– because what is heartfelt music without a heart that is actually beating? Before having a chance to respond to this, colletti’s vocal appears, offering a heartbreaking delivery of a glass that is now half empty.

The chorus brings us the rhythm section and the production expands to its full capacity, still maintaining the soft and delicate, cinematic resonance. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, strings are added for the second verse, leading into the second chorus and then our favorite part: the fantastic and stripped back bridge, echoing “we had it all… we lost it…” It will not be long before everyone is hearing “Half of You on TV– you can count on it.
