Big Warm Bed - “Can’t Quit”

From Leeds, indie artist Jacob Andrews, aka Big Warm Bed, has arrived on our blog with “Can’t Quit.”

A sublime, lo-fi beat gets this tune started, imbuing “Can’t Quit” with a gloriously chill vibe that is bound to captivate listeners as soon as they press the play button. Moments later, a vintage-tinged bass line is deployed, along with shimmering and reverberating layers of effected guitars, providing a dreamy and blissful listening experience that will carry you away from all of your worldly troubles.

Andrews’ vocal performance arrives, just as mellow and soothing as the rest of the arrangement, offering up lyrics that traverse the turbulence of addiction. As “Can’t Quit” progresses, the subtle sounds of horns pump some positive energy into the composition, emphasizing the omnipresent analogue flavor of the track, which, by our standards, superbly fills a modern niche.

Anyone who has ever tried to rid themselves of bad habits will surely vibe with the subject matter. Andrews wrote the song about his relationship with nicotine, adding: “Can’t Quit is essentially about struggling to quit smoking cigarettes, I go in and out of phases of trying, then I get a little stressed about something and the old habits come back knocking. I’m still trying to quit, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t love it.”

Can’t Quit” is now available everywhere via Dance To The Radio and we hope that it is merely a precursor to many more tunes from Big Warm Bed, as we will gladly feature them all right here.
