Bad Flamingo - “Parked in the Lot”

Bad Flamingo are back on the blog with “Parked in the Lot,” a moody slice of lo-fi indie rock that will definitely work its way into your favorite playlists.

This mysterious duo has appeared on our site so many times that we’ve lost count, and once you’ve pressed that play button, you will understand why we can never say no to them. The mesmerizing vocal performance begins immediately, spoon-feeding us lines of lyrics over the top of some vintage-tinged notes from a guitar.

In true Bad Flamingo fashion, additional layers of vocals arrive on the refrain, which also ushers in a barebones rhythm section, satisfyingly propelling the song forward. Careful listeners will detect additional layers of guitar and, of course, some banjo, which is always the hallmark for their craft, combining to broaden the stroke of the sonic palette.

Parked in the Lot” ebbs and flows betwixt its verse and chorus sections, adding and removing elements in order to bring a remarkable sense of dynamic variation to your ears. And while we admit that the mystery is part of the appeal, it is absolutely impossible to deny the niche filled by this duo’s aural essence.
