Ayna Errboe - “A Girl I Know”
Northern Denmark-based singer-songwriter Ayna Errboe returns to us with the stripped-back ballad, “A Girl I Know.”
For those of you keen on the more raw and acoustically-driven work from The Beatles, “A Girl I Know” will fill your ears with a comforting and satisfying sense of nostalgic bliss. From the delicately plucked, travis picking reminscent of “Dear Prudence,” to Errboe’s heartfelt, McCartney-esque vocal delivery, it is not at all difficult to imagine the track as a long-lost recording circa The White Album.
“A Girl I Know” remains within this sparsely decorated and intimate realm for just over a minute, then the deep and round notes of the bass arrive to anchor the arrangement. Just past midpoint, another layer of guitar emerges, along with the glorious sounds of a vocal harmony, again cementing the classic, analogue flavor of the The Fab Four.
Errboe claims that the track is “a portrait of a girl I know” and that “She’s the kind of person who makes you wonder how your own portrait would look.” As far as we’re concerned, music is the best way to celebrate the existence of another human being and once you hear “A Girl I Know,” we know that you will undoubtedly agree.
