From Los Angeles, ASHRR have just released the dance rock ear-worm: “Different Kind Of Life.”

Different Kind Of Life” is centred around a steady, tight drum groove that imparts an infectious, energetic, and upbeat sense of movement. It relentlessly propels the track forward while enticing you to move to its beat. The simple rhythm is imbued with flair and variation, thanks to the inclusion of bongos and finger snaps. Adding depth to this rhythm is a funky bass line that melodically weaves syncopated pulsing notes. As the two intertwine, there is a near hypnotic vibe that is hard to resist.

Dressing the track are various synths that play a pivotal role in shaping the feel and mood of “Different Kind Of Life,” from bright, pulsating, melodic hooks to lush atmospheric pads. Choppy rhythmic layers of electric guitar also contribute to a pleasing, crisp percussive layer, further enhancing the track’s catchiness. The layers gradually build in intensity and complexity as the song progresses towards its conclusion.

The vocal on this song is delivered with a narrative quality that is filled with a sense of soul and reflection. The backing layers over the chorus really turn the track into an ear-worm, making sure the main hook is reinforced and impactful.

Speaking on the track, ASHRR add: “‘Different Kind Of Life is about the expression of samsara, the cycle of never being pleased with what you have, but always wanting more or something else.  When we went to write this song which started out with the bass line and polyrhythmic drums, we eventually mixed up our love of Afrobeat rhythms from the late 70's with the post-punk soul dance floor anthems that Frankie Knuckles would be playing at Paradise Garage on a Saturday night.”

Different Kind Of Life” is the deep, spacious and full-blooded sound you have been looking for to get you moving. The track is released via UK label 20/20 Vision Recordings. Connect with ASHRR: Instagram | Spotify | Bandcamp
