From her brand new EP, Fall First, North London-based singer-songwriter Ana Barrena has just revealed the dreamy and chill sounds of “On Water.”

Pressing play invites a soothing and enchanting vibe into your ears, warmly reminiscent of Tame Impala as it carries you away from all of your earthly troubles. A relaxed rhythm section pushes the track forward, with varying degrees of psychedelic elements populating the sonic landscape. “On Water” is the kind of song that belongs at the top of any playlist reserved for introspective road trips.

Barrena’s vocal performance is what has ultimately won us over here, delivering lines of nostalgic lyrics, tinged in a melancholic character that completely nails our niche for the genre. As “On Water” progresses, glorious moments of ebb and flow are provided by the emergence of additional vocal layers and by adding and removing various elements over key areas.

In its three and a half minute runtime, “On Water” will truly leave you feeling adrift amidst its gentle rhythmic sway and we cannot think of a better soundtrack to accompany the beginning of the weekend.
