almost a.m. - “Where Are You”
Kalispell, Montana-based trio almost a.m. have just released the chill, indie pop-rock vibes of “Where Are You.”
This track is truly a dream to have in your ears, beginning with the sounds of some soft, reverse-tape ethereal layers before a two-count on the snare brings it to life. The arrangement is suddenly rich and robust, with a gentle rhythm section that leaves “Where Are You” perfect for summertime roadtrips.
One of the reasons we’ve found this song so irresistible is due to the vocal performance, which resides primarily in an upper register that secures the track’s position in the realm of dream pop. Like the instrumental, the lines lyrics effortlessly flow through the sonic landscape, imbuing the track with a contemplative energy that cannot be ignored.
“Where Are You” is a touch more synth-saturated than our usual, guitar-driven preferences, yet it manages to cling tightly to our indie rock niche, instead of falling over the edge into synthpop– it simply sounds like good humans making good music, which is something we look for in all of the songs that roll through our stack of submissions.
