Alex Siegel - “Roll Me”

From his brand new LP, Walk You Home, California-based singer-songwriter Alex Siegel arrives on our blog with the single, “Roll Me.”

This lo-fi, chilled-out beast of a tune begins with a simple rhythm that will immediately get your feet tapping. Ultra-vibey guitar notes are churned out from atop the arrangement, beckoning the arrival of a warm and sexy bass line– perfect for all of your summertime feel-good playlists, or for simply driving around with the windows down.

Siegel’s voice emerges, just as relaxed as the rest of the tune, beginning the song with a chorus. Although we tend to avoid tracks that traverse a romantic nature, “Roll Me” can be interpreted as a love for life– a newfound zest for living and breathing. Auxiliary vocals line the outer edges of the production, providing a warm, dreamy glow to the sonic space.

While it is quite clear that that the song is a modern offering of American indie, there is a distinct flavor that comes from a late-1950s influence, partly due to the layers of backing vocals and effected guitar notes. In its just-under-two-and-a-half-minute runtime, “Roll Me” will grab your spirit by the hand and take it for a moonlit drive along the coastline of existence.
