Alas de Liona - “Analogy”

Mojave Desert-born, Scotland-based singer-songwriter Alas de Liona has just released “Analogy,” an ethereally-charged precursor to her forthcoming LP, Gravity Of Gold.

Analogy” gets things started with an impactful beat that propels the arrangement forward. Strewn across the top, listeners are provided with a selection of synth and vocal layers that act as melodic textures, effectively piquing the interest of anyone within earshot. Within the first ten seconds of the song, you are bound to find yourselves completely enchanted by Alas de Liona’s craft.

Although the arrangement is filled with digital artifacts, it is de Liona’s raw vocal that has totally won us over. Fans of Wolf Alice and Sharon Van Etten shall marvel at the way she utilizes an emotional intensity in order to deliver a truly haunting performance. Her voice effortlessly ebbs and flows, gliding into an upper register that will undoubtedly have you repeatedly returning to “Analogy” for multiple listens.

There is something for listeners across multiple genres here; from the alt pop-inspired verses, to the walls of distorted guitars on the refrain, “Analogy” is bound to resonate with one and all. For us, it is the gloriously raw vocal performance that leaves us in great anticipation for the rest of the album, due for release on September 13th.

And do not sleep on this live version of the track:
