Cavalo55 - “A White Building”
Multi-instrumentalist Simone Carugati, aka Cavalo55, has just released your new favorite song, “A White Building.” It was pitched to us as Americana, but there is definitely something in here for everyone.
This track wastes absolutely no time at all, starting with a chunky guitar that sounds as though it has spent the day in the desert sun. There’s a strong dose of reverb in here and some sweet, sweet vintage charm, all confidently played on top of a slow and steady rhythm section– it’s safe to say that “A White Building” gives off a bit of attitude before the vocals come in with some grit. Carugati has one of those voices that we’ve been hoping to hear since we started the blog– a little bit Gregory Alan Isakov, a little bit Lord Huron, and full of so much vibe that it instantly demands your attention.
Before the song lets you get hung up on its raw power, it eases back to let Carugati’s vocals shine above primarily an acoustic guitar. You will marvel in these stripped back moments of the song, as they are absolute heaven, until an organ lures you back into the track’s main rhythm. And just when you think the song has reached its peak, Cavalo55 has different plans… Because this track beholds a dynamic shift that bounces with all the perfection of The Beatles. And all you can do is listen and wonder how fantastic it would be to witness “A White Building” performed on a stage… Then it gently bids you farewell with the most delicate of sparsely recorded endings.
