From the UK, singer-songwriter Zoe Konez has just revealed the new indie folk track, “I Don’t Want To Be Alone Anymore,” a song that explores isolation and the longing for connection.

To be perfectly honest, Konez earns major points for the song title alone, which resonates so deeply that, for us, pressing the play button was an involuntary reaction. A droning and ethereal sound of an organ get this one started, filling the sonic space with a grand swell of ambience before the arrival of the acoustic guitar. The mood is hopeful and inviting– perfectly suiting the vibe set by the title.

Konez’s vocal performance carries over some of the otherworldly effect from the arrangement, as it contains a multi-tracked delivery that will instantly enchant the listener. Konez effortlessly feeds us lyrics that seem to have been written by the hand of an empath, at times entering the ears as though our own, private emotions have been set to music.

Over its course, “I Don’t Want To Be Alone Anymore” maintains this sparse, stripped-back sense of existence, with some additional guitar and angelic auxiliary vocals utilized toward the end. The track is perfect for those deep, vital bouts of introspection, and we are sure that once you’ve heard it, that is exactly the purpose it shall serve.

About the song, Konez adds: “In the lyrics, I’m noticing that I'm lonely, and considering that you might be too. Making the first steps to think about how to reach out from a place of solitude. In observing my own day-to-day life, I recognise that I'm not trying, I’m almost just giving in to the present situation and withdrawing further in a spiral. But in calling it out, I’m acknowledging that life is just going to pass me by if I don't make changes now, and that I need to start to work out how to connect again.”
