Inkfields - “Your Head's in the Sand”

Samuel James-Griffiths, aka Inkfields, has just unveiled his latest single, “Your Head’s in the Sand.” It is a beautifully crafted piece of music that seamlessly blends a calming ocean-inspired atmosphere with a sense of frustration and urgency. The song’s opening guitar riff sets the tone for the rest of the track, creating a hypnotic pulsing groove.

The drums kick in with a powerful depth. Shimmering guitar riffs and reverberated tones add an addictive quality to the track. The riffing is used sparingly, but it has a brilliant feel to it. Unusual synth sounds are introduced throughout the song to add depth and texture. For me, the song is an immersive listening experience.

Inkfields’ vocals are a highlight, conveying a sense of frustration, but with a nice characterful tone. The female supporting vocals, supplied by Regenweibchen, add a lush, airy quality to the track, creating a sense of lightness that beautifully balances the song’s darker elements.

Your Head’s in the Sand” feels like a slow-burning beast of a track, despite the under 3-minute runtime. It could have easily been made longer and not ruined the mesmerising feel.
