yoomcircle - “Waterfalls”

yoomcircle has just released the catchy and infectious, retro-futuristic synthpop track, “Waterfalls.”

This tune is built on top of a rich, deep, punchy bassline that pulses with a pleasingly funky and danceable groove. It locks in tight with the steady, propulsive drums and offers ample amounts of memorable hooks as it relentlessly drives the song forward.

The track is richly layered with kaleidoscopic analog synths that ooze a vibrant 1970s vibe. These layers warmly swell, shimmer, and rain down on the composition like colourful droplets, creating a lush sonic atmosphere. They majestically swirl and weave, forming an engaging soundscape as they provide harmonic support and enrich the melodic lines.

yoomcircle lets rip with these layers during the melodic break, pushing them firmly into psychedelic territory as the textures are aggressively enhanced with chorus and phase effects. In this instance, “Waterfalls” feels as though Vangelis and Sylvester LeVay have teamed up with Tame Impala.

Adding to the head-bopping flow are well-selected, expressive electric guitar lines that are splashed throughout, almost as responses to the catchy lyrics. yoomcircle‘s smooth vocal is similarly vintage in tone as he expressively and dynamically delivers the lyrics. The performance exquisitely draws you further into the composition over the verses with a groove-oriented delivery before soaring, surrounded by rich layered harmonies across the hook-laden choruses. The use of effects on the vocal is also well executed, heightening the immersive vibes.

On the track, yoomcircle adds: “Waterfalls is a song about the absence of something that you really miss and then, all of a sudden it comes back to you. In my case it was the fun of creating things, something that I really love and don’t want to miss in my life - all of a sudden it came back when I wrote this song, like water falling on me. The verse’s lyrics are spiked with some references to songs I really love (like) Strawberry Fields Forever.”

Waterfalls” is a strikingly upbeat, catchy, and dynamic track that would make the perfect addition to any synthpop lover’s playlist. Connect with yoomcircle: Instagram | Facebook | Spotify
