The Welcome Party gets us through ‘another busy day’

Fans of Wilco and Uncle Tupelo will rejoice at the sound of The Welcome Party and their “jingly jangly indie pop” track, “Another Busy Day.” According to their social media, they’ve been in the studio and have just finished up their next single, so we wanted to get this one reviewed in order to make some room for the next.

This group of musician folk are from Wales, but everything you hear in “Another Busy Day” will have you convinced that they’ve spent a couple nights in Nashville or, at least, got a speeding ticket while trying to get to a gig in Memphis. Approximately three seconds after it begins, this rockin’ folksy number will have your feet tappin’ and head bobbin’. The chord progression might follow a reliable formula, but the magic here is the complete lack of any vocal tuning, which is easily the rarest thing in music these days. There is a sort of call and response happening between the vocals and an almost-organ-sounding guitar. And it’s precisely this little melody that is going to get stuck in your head as soon as you hit play. This springy track is a short one, at only two minutes and twenty seconds, so if you have time to read this review, you have time to give The Welcome Party a listen.
