The Ballroom Thieves - “Everything Is Everything”
The Ballroom Thieves, comprised of Calin Peters and Martin Earley from the USA, have just served up a slice of the sublime with the Americana track, “Everything Is Everything.”
“Everything Is Everything” instantly hits you with an incredibly inviting atmosphere, thanks to the mellow tones of the acoustic guitar. The playing creates a feeling of warmth and intimacy, whilst adding a rich sense of texture. Over certain areas, the strings are muted, delightfully softening the tones, enhancing the laid-back vibes, and allowing the vocals to shine. Gentle touches of electric piano and a smooth bass wonderfully enhance this mood.
Pushing the song forward is a gentle rhythm that elegantly weaves all the elements together. Shaker is also added in the odd place to enhance the rhythmic pulse. Like the musical elements, the wonderful vocal also permeates a soothing, nostalgic, and tranquil vibe. The performance is heartfelt, soulful, and rich in harmony, thanks to the exquisite supporting layers.
On “Everything Is Everything,” the duo share: “The phrase “it is what it is” might be one of the most infuriating mottos ever. It implies that we’re just along for the ride of life, instead of captains of our own experience. We all tend to get stuck in the outdated and harmful patterns we were taught, and Everything is Everything is about breaking free from that cage and living in a self-aware and compassionate way.”
“Everything Is Everything” is just one of many stunning songs taken from the album, Sundust, which is out today… the riff-driven “Snake Bite” being my favourite.
