Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Steven van Betten channels the charming sincerity of friendship with his new single, “Surrounded By All These Beautiful People I Love.”

When we last featured van Betten, it was due in part to the way that his vocal delicately and intimately brings a sense of comfort to the ears– we are happy to say that this same sensation holds true for “Surrounded By All These Beautiful People I Love.” We are simultaneously hearing moments from both The Magnetic Fields and Big Thief and, quite frankly, this song is fast becoming our happy place.
We do not make a habit of listening to music that is this uplifting, but there’s something mystical occurring here that forces you to tap your foot and hum along, leaving all of your worries behind. It is not at all difficult to imagine this track emanating from the stereo as you surround yourself with friends, becoming the soundtrack to your future accolades.
