Stu Larsen - “Lost in a Haze”

Australian singer-songwriter Stu Larsen has recently released the folksy magic of “Lost in a Haze,” a captivating tune that instantly caused us to become fans.

The song appears to begin with some combustion engine foley before bursting into life, introducing an inviting guitar melody that will immediately capture the interest of all who hear. Beneath it are the robust sounds of the rhythm section, complete with drums, bass, and acoustic guitar, all of which have been mixed to perfection, enticing us to turn up the volume a bit to really let this one saturate every square inch of our souls.

Larsen’s vocal soon arrives, warm and endearing as it traverses the intricacies of love and loss, reminding us that “even in the midst of endings, there is beauty to be found.” “Lost in a Haze” carries all of the weight of the music you will find on modern radio, yet still manages to remain raw and authentic to the folk genre. Vocal harmonies appear on the refrain, widening out the production and landing the song firmly within our niche.

In addition to the harmonies, another highlight for us is the way that the ending falsetto mirrors the lead guitar that initially drew us in, bringing the song full circle and leading us to anticipate future releases from Larsen. About “Lost in a Haze,” he adds: “It’s really an anthem for anyone feeling stuck in a situation when you know the clear way forward but your partner is unsure. I have definitely been on both sides of this fence over the years.”
