Amelie Patterson - “Static” and “Golden Line”

Western Canada-based singer-songwriter Amelie Patterson once again arrives on our blog with a pair of new tunes: “Static” and “Golden Line.”

If you recall the last time that we featured Patterson, you’ll already know that we are big fans. With “Static,” she offers listeners a glimpse into the realm of folktronica, a genre that we have rarely featured before now. And while we generally opt for a sound that is much more raw, gritty, and stripped-back, there is something very magical happening inside of the ethereal, sonic dreamscape that this track provides.

Patterson’s vocal moves around you like a melodic river and it is not difficult to imagine this track completely entrancing an entire sea of people. The heart of the production is mainly comprised of synths, yet there is something very natural about its delivery that causes it to reach outside the bounds of electronica. Patterson adds: “The song is one part intrusive thoughts, and two parts empty studio at midnight. It’s the battle against the corrosive nature of doubt.”

And if your ears are not yet satiated, look no further than “Golden Line.” Although this song offers various remnants of alt pop, listeners will still get an earful of Patterson’s emotional voice. Wrapped in moments of cinematic vocal harmonies, this track is bound to have you bobbing your head and tapping your foot, while simultaneously caught up within its mythological subject matter.

Both “Static” and Golden Line” have been released via Neon Moon Records, and both possess a dreamy and elegant production that is bound to keep you coming back for that play button.
