Francisco Sola + Genesis Ritchot - “Flower Heart”
When we first started the blog, we were scrolling through Instagram and somehow landed on “I’ll Be Gone,” by Buenos Aires-based Francisco Sola. If you have not yet heard this man sing, please be warned that doing so will result in immediately falling in love with his voice. Today, we are completely thrilled to be sharing his new track, “Flower Heart,” a collaboration with Canadian artist Genesis Ritchot.
Upon pressing play, your ears will be greeted by a hopeful and melodic whistle atop of some warmly played acoustic guitar. It is not long before this gentle love song provides the fantastic vocals of Sola and Ritchot, joined together through a harmony that is nothing short of mesmerizing. If you have ever read our blog, you’ll know that we are big fans of folk songs that possess a timeless sound, comfortable in both the vibes of the ‘60s and the sounds of the modern age– that is exactly what you will find here. And the fact that it contains such majestic harmonies is simply the cherry on top.
Distant and gentle percussion is added to urge the production forward, as well as some bass and the delicate notes from a piano. These additional elements nearly sneak up on you while you’re lost within the vocals; suddenly, they are there and seem to become even more present as the song proceeds. After the second refrain, “Flower Heart” contains a bridge of epic proportions, both in performance and in lyrical content– we foresee this song being placed within many playlists that lovers make for one another other, as well as those who long for the love they’ve lost.
“Flower Heart” is the kind of song that becomes an ear worm from the first sounds of its whistle and it will likely have you falling down the rabbit holes of both Sola and Ritchot’s previous work. Give it a listen.
