Jonah Tolchin - “Save Me (From Myself)”

USA-based Jonah Tolchin has just released the bluesy rock gem “Save Me (From Myself).” The track has a lush groove and a soul that will leave you spellbound and wanting more.

The gritty electric guitars take center stage right away and, for me, are the star of the show, with the way that they constantly provide subtle blues licks and fills. The lead guitar has a slick feel, whilst a subdued rhythm guitar grooves, providing a nice depth and movement. The drums push the song forward and a warm foundation is offered by the bass. Tolchin plays around with these textures, allowing dynamic breaks and space so that each element shines in the mix.

The solo, again, pushes those bluesy tones front and center. There is a gorgeous feeling of spontaneity and improvision in this section, keeping the performance full of feeling and soul. On this track, Tolchin delivers a powerful, yet subtly introspective vocal. The female soul singer, who adds a great deal of depth and heart to the song, enhances the performance. The combination on tones reminds me of Paul Wellers track “I Walk on Gilded Splinters.”

Lyrically, the artist says: “This is a song about being your own worst enemy... I struggle with intrusive thoughts and having my inner-dialogue cranked up to 11. I hope that others can get some catharsis from this rocker.” “Save Me (From Myself)” is a gorgeous blues rocker with great guitar textures and soulful vocals. The song is taken from the forthcoming album, Dockside.
