Record Thieves reveal “Fault Lines”
Record Thieves have submitted their new single “Fault Lines,” a solid punk rock song with a radio-ready accessibility. The intro has a few more bars than the modern day, playlist-hungry single, but the 30 seconds is time well spent, because this song doesn’t disappoint. There’s solid playing, great energy, and a chorus that has a powerful, sing-a-long hookiness, moving up in pitch at just the right time. Dealing with emotional conflict, both internal and external, the lyrics are relatable, yet ambiguous enough to be applicable to a variety of personal experiences. The chorus repeats: “Out of the deep/after all the horror the hurt the grief/after giving it everything just to finally see you fall/after you’ve given it all.” The bridge satisfies in a reliable fashion, deviating from the established rhythms with some gratifying changes in feel and texture as it leads the listener toward the song’s outro. As the ending approaches, a harmony is added that, when layered with the main vocal, elevates the song quite nicely.
