Razor Braids - “It Goes Quiet”
Brooklyn-based indie rock trio Razor Braids have brought their ‘bing bong’ dynamic sound to our blog with “It Goes Quiet.”
The band does not waste anyone’s time with this one, quickly fading in before hitting us with a blissfully melodic arrangement that consists of a rich rhythm section and the shimmering notes from a guitar. The mood is completely chill and exactly what we needed in order to lift our spirits high enough to avoid the perils of another treacherous workweek.
The vocals begin immediately, wonderfully matched to the reposed instrumental, breezy and slightly reminiscent of Julien Baker and, perhaps, a bit of Sophia Regina Allison’s allure. These references are particularly evident upon the arrival of the vocal harmony, which enticingly floods the soundscape with a sweet sense of buoyancy. Fans of boygenius and Soccer Mommy are going to eat this one right up.
After the first refrain, layers of gritty lead guitar pour into the arrangement, gloriously enriching the sonic space by providing handfuls of ear candy. Throughout its entirety, “It Goes Quiet” maintains a raw and authentic approach to the craft, never falling victim to the pitfalls of digital skylarking. And after its brief, two-and-half-minute duration, we are confident that Razor Braids will have completely won you over as fans, just as they’ve done with us.
“It Goes Quiet” comes from Razor Braids’ forthcoming LP, Big Wave, due out on June 7th.
