Punk Rock Saturday V
Welcome to the first Punk Rock Saturday of September! This week, we’re parking the bus in Sweden to check out Venerea’s new single, “Blind Faith.” For those of you just waking up, this track takes about seventeen seconds before it fully engulfs you inside of their brand of skatepunk, but it sure is warm once it has set you afire. “Blind Faith” has been offered as a single off of the LP Euro Trash, which you should order based on its name alone. But I know you probably came here for some free samples, so fill your pockets with this, then hit the entire record.
Barreling out of St. Louis, MO, USA, Wes Hoffman is no stranger to the punk scene. And after taking some time off, 2021 saw him come back in full force with his band Wes Hoffman and Friends. While they have already released an EP earlier this year, they are not taking any time off and “Where Summer Never Ends” has been released ahead of their upcoming 2023 full length. The group is set for a quick September/October tour, supporting the likes of A Wilhelm Scream and Much The Same, so if you’re in the midwest, it might be time for a quick roadtrip. Here’s what they have in store for you:
Now that we’ve wet your whistle, have a look at these Wes Hoffman and Friends tour dates: Sept 16 Columbia, MO @ Eastside Tavern • Sept 17 Kansas City, MO @ Vivo • Sept 27 St Louis, MO @ The Ready Room (w/ A Wilhelm Scream) • Sept 30 Bloomington, IL @ Nightshop • Oct 1 Chicago, IL @ Punk The Burbs 5 Fest
For those of you who like to skip the coffee and go straight for the heavier stuff, Vancouver’s Rest Easy have a new track out entitled “The Hill.” And by the time this track is through with you, you will be buried underneath of it. Vocalist Dylan Hossack describes the idea behind this heavy hitter:
I feel like everyone over the last few years has lost touch with a friend or family member because of different views or beliefs, whatever they may be. I wrote this song about how, even when we think we are so in the right- we are all a product of our own echo chambers.
At a mere thirty-five seconds in length, this thing rips into your ears like an angry pack of tornados and leaves behind a trail of complete and total carnage; however, we doubt this will keep you from playing it over and over again. Rest Easy’s full length, Hope You’re Okay, is due to be released on October 28.
Until next time, stay hydrated, eat plenty of tacos, and keep hitting that submit button.
