Polyglam - “Town”

Town,” the latest single from Polyglam, is an engrossing musical journey full of melancholy, introspection, and gorgeously rousing and elegant tones.

The song’s opening is an extraordinary blend of backwards piano tones, layered strings, and ethereal vocals. This perfectly foreshadows the stunningly surreal and melodic journey Polyglam are about to lead us on. These tones break to a nylon-stringed guitar that warmly fingerpicks, forming a sense of intimacy that contrasts with the opening grandiosity. “Town” is a true dynamic trip and we are quickly propelled forward with the addition of drums and a deep bass line as we enter the chorus. Piano adds depth and richness whilst the longing strings return, surrounding the arrangement with grace. This ebb and flow creates a satisfying feeling of contrast.

The piano musical interlude is an unexpected and welcome addition that introduces arpeggiated tones against a background of lo-fi drums. This enhances the sense of introspection and wonder that permeates this “Town.” The gentle and melancholic vocal performance of Polyglam gives the arrangement a dazzling, emotional depth. The meditative and intimate performance contrasts wonderfully with the ethereal backing vocals that seem to dance through the air. The lyrics are reflective and tinged in melancholy. Polyglam describe the song’s sentiment as “a train ride through the past and present.”

Town,” by Polyglam, takes us effortlessly on a contemplative journey. Full of gorgeous textures that ebb and flow like waves, you cannot help but get lost in this song.
