Sumaroo - “Piggyback”

Sumaroo is back, ladies and gentlemen, and he’s brought with him a sweet and mellow bundle-of-indie called “Piggyback.” When we first met Sumaroo, we knew we had discovered one of our favorite finds of 2023. And it seems he is determined to never be pigeonholed into one, specific genre, so with “Piggyback,” it’s like we get to fall in love with his music all over again.

We dare you to press play and try not to tap your foot because this thing has been sprinkled with some sort of magic-foot-tapping dust. Seriously– it is instantaneous. From the top, it sounds so breezy and effortless, as though the song was tracked in an imaginary world where it is always summertime. Sumaroo’s vocals exude supportive lyrics that are warm and kind as he offers to take the weight of the world off of the listener’s shoulders. Delicate harmonies are arranged in all the right places and it is obvious that Piggyback is the kind of music doctors should prescribe in conjunction with antidepressants.
