Olive Klug | Pranatricks
LA-via-Portland queer singer-songwriter Olive Klug has got a new song called “Out of Line.” Lovely vocals dance melodically around a mellow, grooving accompaniment that builds into a bold pronouncement: “Isn’t life so funny so great/ When you’re watching all the rules disintegreate/ It’s a joy when you got these silly little lies you get to erase.” In the great tradition of folk singers that have something to say and sound wonderful singing it, Olive Klug is ready for you to take notice and get out of line with them.
A beautiful melody matched with the right chords makes for happy ears and Pranatricks’ new song, “Shades of Your Light,” makes my ears happy. It’s a finely crafted tune, with loads of lazy dog vibes and you lucky dogs get to enjoy it! Curl up on your favorite couch and wrap yourself in this blanket of Indie Folk comfort. It’s mostly guitar and vocals, but harmonies add touches of color and a shaker keeps time as you are guided along toward some supernatural percussion that is just magical enough to make perfect sense. About the track, Pranatricks says: “We all go about our days in conformity. We are generally concerned with what and how people think about us. What if we were able to remove the obstacles that dimmed our truth or shaded our light? This song is about recognizing where those impediments are and a reminder to reflect our truest sense of Self as best we can.”
