Ocie Elliott - “Come On By”

Ahead of their forthcoming EP, Know The Night, Jon Middleton and Sierra Lundy, aka Ocie Elliott, have just released another spellbinding folk song: “Come On By.”

This one utilizes the vibrant sounds of an acoustic guitar to bring the song to life before our ears are greeted by Middleton’s confident vocal. The mood is instantly one of hope, as the subject matter pertains to the magnificent bond we make with people, granting them the power pull us out of the depths of our despair, simply by being present.

Lundy’s vocal arrives with an exquisite harmony on the back half of the verse, reminding us why we became fans of this act in the first place. We often comment on the special bond between a male and female vocal and each Ocie Elliott song is evidence of this. Pressing play on “Come On By” makes it crystal clear that the duo have spent an insurmountable amount of time together behind a microphone.

Even with its sparse arrangement, the track possesses everything we love about the genre. As Middleton and Lundy trade verses and add layers of emotion to each other’s lines, it is easy to forget that there are only a few instruments in attendance. And, for us, that is the magic of a good, old-fashioned folk song. So do yourself a favor and press play on “Come On By” or – better yet – send it to the people you love the most.
