Ne’er-do-well - “Compromise”

Houses are built on foundations and melodic punk/rock songs are built on choruses. Not one to shirk his duties, this building inspector has donned his hard hat, laced up his steel-toed boots, and thrown on that orange, reflective vest to see what lurks beneath the fancy facade of a promo submission email. Thankfully, I found proper footing, quality workmanship and all the boxes got checked!

The first single, “Compromise,” from Ne’er-do-well’s debut EP Fun Days does what it should, when it should and how it should. Mildly reminiscent of Fall Out Boy, I dig the way they aptly bulldozed their own sonic plot of land. To drag this metaphor through the dirt a bit longer, I’ll say that they’ve chosen a nice neighborhood to build a musical home. And I won’t be surprised if this loud-guitar sing-along-a-thon just might make you feel at home too, albeit as another misunderstood misanthrope let down by life. Relationships can be tough, like a foreman who hasn’t had his coffee.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone in feeling like life fell short of expectations; at least we have a song like “Compromise” that exceeds them! Hey, it’s even got a tasty guitar solo, so cheer up and sing that chorus one more time: “Compromise. Is this the life I bargained for or just another compromise? I should have asked for more.”
