Maya Abee - “My House”

From Los Angeles, singer-songwriter Maya Abee arrives on our blog with the chill folk-pop sounds of “My House.”

This song begins in a manner that is curiously and rhythmically reminiscent of Hall & Oates, with a beat that ignites a loving and wholesome nostalgia for “Kiss On My List.” The comparison begins and ends there, however, as Abee adds a raw layer of acoustic guitar over the top of the arrangement, shifting the track into a more soothing and folksy lane.

Abee’s vocal performance is nothing short of sensational, sonically and emotionally akin to the work of artists such as Angel Olsen, Waxahatchee, and Julia Jacklin. And though we found the instrumental quite enchanting, it was Abee’s voice that ultimately led to us falling in love with “My House.” Amidst the heavenly layers of auxiliary vocals, this song is bound to fully resonate with all music lovers, regardless of genre preference.

As far as subject matter is concerned, Abee has drawn inspiration from the Laurel Canyon folk scene and created a chill and soothing journey that illuminates the cozy perfection of a lazy Sunday morning. Other than the digital drum track, “My House” resides in an authentic and classic analogue sound that is rich and robust, and we simply cannot wait for to get it into your ears.

My House” is the title track of Maya Abee’s forthcoming EP and if it is indicative of how the rest of the cuts will sound, go ahead and take our money now. Connect with Maya Abee: Bandcamp | Instagram | Spotify
