The Wans - “Magical Touch”

Nashville based rock band The Wans have just released “Magical Touch.” It is a classic indie rock track that’s sure to get your feet tapping and your head nodding along, and it is definitely one that is designed to be played live.

The song is built on the solid groove of its rhythm section. The drum beat pounds away and a fat bassline grumbles nastily underneath the song, adding depth and texture. The guitar and electric piano work together to develop the groove further… but it is the chorus sections where the song properly opens up, creating a sense of space and energy that contrasts nicely with the verses.

The vocal performance is solid throughout, with the singer delivering a good, old-fashioned classic indie rock performance. As the song progresses, the guitars grow more energetic, building up to a climax that thunders through to the end. Perhaps my favourite aspect of “Magical Touch” is the drumming, which almost sounds like a manic Keith Moon at the end. Whether you’re a fan of indie rock or just looking for a fun, engaging track to get you moving, “Magical Touch” is definitely worth a listen.
