Lyle Divinsky - “Your Stars”

Singer-songwriter Lyle Divinsky grew up in Maine, but found himself busking in the New York City subways before releasing his first record in 2015. The talent he possesses in crafting songs has earned him top positions in the international charts, as well as spots on infamous stages, like Madison Square Garden, Red Rocks, and The Fillmore.

Today, Divinsky earns his way onto our blog through his release of “Your Stars,” an indie-rock-soul-ballad that is, at times, musically akin to the work of John Mayer and The War on Drugs. The most gentle of grooves sets this song on its course, predominantly bass and drums, letting you know that it’s going to be more about introspection than populating a dance floor– just the way we like it. Divinsky’s vocal is soulful and unique enough to keep us from drawing any immediate comparisons, yet it also has a familiarity about it that will cause it to be welcomed by all who hear.

The lyrics come directly from a place of love, perfect for an evening of ‘dancing in the living room’ with that special someone, or sitting alone in the dark while you wonder where it all went wrong. “Your Stars” is quite monstrous, both in sound and in length, and while we’re quite certain that you’ll be immediately hooked, be sure to stick around for the final 50 seconds, when Divinsky’s voice defies its own gravity and causes us to look forward to everything this dude will release in the future.

If you like what you hear (and we guarantee that you will), be sure to check out “Falling by the Wayside,” a song that Divinsky released last month. It will give you another healthy dose of his soulful voice, including highlighting his delightful falsetto. Simply amazing. Check it out:
