Luke Sital-Singh - “Hold The Lightning”

UK based Luke Sital-Singh has just released the chilled, anthemic indie folk track, “Hold The Lightning.”

This songis built around a really sweet, laid-back, and chilled drum beat where the hi-hat groove injects a syncopated, almost funky sense of movement. The thick bass locks in tight with this syncopation, allowing plenty of lush, little spaces for the groove to shine. This bass becomes really fuzzy at the song’s climax, which is a pleasing modern touch. The rustic, texture-rich acoustic guitar adds to the song’s shuffle with a mellow, cohesive sound.

The final touches to the music are elegant, smooth, gliding tones of lap steel that reflectively shimmer and swirl in all the right places. An electric piano softly melts into the composition, but leave ample room for the atmospheric, reverb-heavy electric guitar that twangs with rich, cinematic tones.

The vocal of Luke Sital-Singh is delightfully smooth and relaxed with pleasingly soulful nuances. It is also briefly pushed into enjoyable effects, such as Leslie-speaker modulation, filtering, and reverb, which all add to the prolific, modern vibe of the track. Supported by breathy, tender backing vocals that give a pleasing lightness and depth, the whole performance is nothing short of sublime.

Hold The Lightning” is a jovial, upbeat tune with cynical lyrics. Luke calls “Hold The Lightning,” which he co-wrote with rising songwriter and producer Jack Hardman, “the anchor song of the album.” Adding, “There was an energy to it. I’m not very good at realising I’m making a record until there is a vibe that I’ve landed on. And when I wrote that one, I was just like: this is what I want to try and aim all the others at. It’s not the first one I wrote, but then I could carve the other ones into a similar world.”

Hold The Lightning” is the first glimpse into Luke Sital-Singh’s forthcoming album and, after playing this track, you won’t want to miss it. Connect with of Luke Sital-Singh: Spotify | Instagram | Facebook | Bandcamp
