Lauren Ruth Ward - “Mindseye”
“Mindseye” is the latest release from Lauren Ruth Ward and it is a classic indie pop/rock song. The guitar riffs are the backbone of the song, though they never steal the limelight– they simply create a delightful groove. The rhythm guitar stabs add a punchy layer to the mix and the drums are solid and provide a strong foundation for the song, while the subtle electric piano provides a delicate texture to the track.
Lauren’s vocal is the real standout here, with a strong and confident delivery that is full of character. The way the she reaches the top of her range is simply stunning, and it’s clear that she has a lot of emotion invested in the lyrics. Speaking of which, the lyrics are thought-provoking and honest, dealing with the paranoia and confusion that can come with being in a relationship.
The chorus are big and satisfying. The three guitar solos are all tasteful and well-executed… And the way the song builds to a crescendo at the end is the icing on the cake. Overall, “Mindseye” is a great song and I highly recommend giving it a listen.
There is also a brand new music video for “Mindseye,” which, depending upon where you’re employed, may be a little NSFW:
