Anna Rose - “Last Girl of the Rodeo”
Nashville-based Anna Rose makes a triumphant return to the blog with the title track from her brand new LP, “Last Girl of the Rodeo.”
This cut begins with a massive kick/ snare beat, ensuring that it captures the attention of all who hear. Moments later, Anna’s glorious vocal appears, conjuring the delicate vibes of such artists as Brandi Carlile and Nikki Lane as she effortlessly transcends the soundscape. At this point, the arrangement remains tastefully sparse, with just the beat, a synthy pad, and the vocal. As the song moves forward, however, we hear hints of guitar and some some keys, but the spotlight definitely shines on this vocal performance and it makes sense that Anna chose it to close out the entire album.
Around the song’s midpoint, the production lifts, providing enough room for a full drum kit as “Last Girl of the Rodeo” starts its glorious crescendo through the stratosphere. There are fantastic moments of relics using reversed reverb, providing an ample supply of ear candy to keep every listener engaged– it is very likely that you will hear something new with each additional spin. The song comes complete with a powerful bridge before an emotional and dynamic break, showcasing Anna’s passionate vocal with each step. The dramatic and epic climax will surely be something that causes you to return to this one, over and over again.
If you have not already done so, you should give the entire record a spin– Last Girl of the Rodeo is now available everywhere you hear music.
