Krooked Kings - “Coming of Age”

Utah-based indie rock quintet Krooked Kings have arrived on the blog with their latest release, “Coming of Age,” a poppy and rockin’ slice of radio-friendly bliss.

Coming of Age” begins with the confident rhythm from a clean guitar, setting the pace for the drums to enter a couple bars later. The bass soon joins with the vocals and any immediate sonic comparison is lost on us– perhaps a bit of 2003-era Stereophonics, but slightly more soothing, especially once the keys arrive. This song is quite a bit more brimful and upbeat than the songs we usually feature, but there’s just something about it that is completely irresistible and once you hit play, we are confident that you will feel the same.

Upon first listen, you will find that the mix and master here are exquisite, and after seeing that the track was produced by Day Wave, we are not the least bit surprised. Every instrument receives the sonic space that it deserves, and it will no doubt please every crowd it encounters as the band embarks on their SXSW adventure. “Coming of Age” hits all the right places and it’s got us completely revved up for whatever Krooked Kings release next.
