Bad Flamingo - “Keep Off of You”
We don’t know who they are. We don’t know where they’re from. Are they angels who were sent to save humanity? Or demons created to destroy it? The world may never know. Only one thing is certain: whenever we hear a new track from Bad Flamingo, it’s going on the blog.
We first fell under their spell with “I Won’t Let You Die Young,” and they have since blessed our site with “Fiddle” and “Devil and the Deep Blue,” all of which were likely fashioned beneath the full moon of some mystical desert landscape. And today, they have brought us “Keep Off of You,” another song for us all to obsess over until they once again, like musical spirits in the night, come knocking.
With “Keep Off of You,” the duo appear to follow more of a traditional verse/chorus formula for the first half of the track, with a hook that packs quite a significant sonic punch. They, of course, have added their signature spaghetti western flavor all over the production, making it completely impossible for listeners not to take immediate notice.
The dynamic break that follows is loaded with some oomph from the rhythm section and some falsetto “ooohs” that will definitely bring you back for multiple listens. In lieu of a double chorus to close out the song, they have utilized more of a vamping style– further convincing us that these musical bandits are destined to have their work appear on the silver screen. Mark. Our. Words.
