Jake Raywood - “Pink”

UK-based Jake Raywood has just released the warm and dreamy “Pink.” Full of great melodic tones, the song will instantly captivate you. I want to compare the song to Paul McCartney’s “Junk,” although this song is much better than Macca’s scouse offering from the 1970s.

Pink” is founded on a slow and gentle ascending piano line, which gives a nice sense of growing emotion and longing. Acoustic guitar adds a gentle texture of rhythmic warmth, whilst clean, electric guitar tones offer a nice sprinkling of atmosphere. The song is beautifully stripped-back with only bass offering a solid foundation and pulse to the melody.

As the song progresses, the heartfelt delivery gains a growing sense of emotional intensity, thanks to the more frequent use of delicate and dreamy guitar arpeggios. The song then dies back to the acoustic guitar and sounds of bird song, which nicely adds to the atmospherics of this track. Raywood’s vocal performance is intimate and honest, which will definitely leave a lasting impression on any listener. His delivery is melodic and heartfelt and feels like it was done in one take. There is a nice, organic feel to the whole performance.

Pink” is the second single from Jake Raywood’s upcoming EP, Birdsong At Dusk, which he arranged at the Redhouse Site in Aldeburgh, where Benjamin Britten lived and worked. The song is definitely one to check out.
