Immortal Wound - “burnt out star”
Brooklyn-based Immortal Wound have just released the psychedelically-tinged shoegaze track “burnt out star.”
This track is bookended by trippy atmospherics, thanks to reversed sounds that hypnotically loop. These layers automatically capture your listening attention whilst lending a pleasing, nostalgically psychedelic touch.
As the music begins, “burnt out star” is warmly adorned with vibrant guitar textures, enveloping the track in that classic shoegaze vibe. Jangly, reverberated tones and mellow rhythmic layers weave to form a dreamy coat across the track. Fuzzed-out lead guitar satisfyingly contrasts these layers during the guitar solo, atmospherically soaring and contributing to a moment of musical intensity. Pushing the song forward is a slow, almost mechanical, drum groove, whilst a soothing bass pulses thickly and meditatively underneath.
The vocals are submerged in the mix, enhancing those traditional shoegaze vibes, allowing the melody of the performance to seamlessly merge with the lush guitar layers.
