Hang Ten - “oh well whatever”

Everyone’s favorite Appleton, Wisconsin-based indie band Hang Ten have reemerged after a midwestern winter with “oh well whatever,” an energetic slice of pop-rock guaranteed to get your motor runnin’.
Pressing play invites the entire band into your ears, complete with an upbeat rhythm section that is certain to put some pep in your step, no matter if you’re headed out for the evening or simply getting a jumpstart on some spring cleaning. Layers of shimmering guitars and keys permeate the soundscape, joining forces for one hell of a sprightly production.
Of course, as with any Hang Ten jam, the boys do not hold back when it comes to crafting a hook. And while the vocals are remarkably catchy throughout the entirety of “oh well whatever,” the chorus will have you singing along in no time, even long after the song has ended.
This tune comes complete with ear-worm, moog-like synth melodies, bringing on some deep-seated nostalgia for the first time we ever heard The Rentals. And the middle eight takes listeners down a psychedelic musical hall of mirrors, with layers of vocals and a cascading rhythm that is sure to have you reaching for seconds.
The final third of the song delivers a magnificent array of those captivating refrains, and while we are generally drawn to a much more melancholic sound, “oh well whatever” gives us hope that our seasonal depression will end so that we can blast this tune all summer with the windows down.
