LORD & LAND - “Growing Pains”

Growing Pains,” from LORD & LAND, is a powerful and emotionally charged song that deals with the challenges and internal struggles that come with pursuing our dreams in the face of adversity. The track starts off with an intro that almost feels like a cry. Gentle acoustic guitar and shaker then set the scene, which gradually build into a rhythm that’s enhanced by some subtle percussive tapping. The dynamic breaks in the song allow the vocal to take center stage before the tapping percussion resumes and the song grows bigger. There is a real cinematic feel that draws you in and ticks all the boxes of quality indie pop.

The vocal performance is a real standout on this track, with the singer delivering a heartfelt and emotive performance that soars and shows great range. There’s a real sense of vulnerability and authenticity in the delivery, which adds to the overall emotional impact of the song. The backing vocals provide the perfect support to the lead and add an extra layer of depth. The crying lap steel guitar is another nice element. We only get brief hints of it, but it definitely adds a sense of melancholy and longing to the overall sound. The song’s lyrics deal with the necessary changes we make in order to grow and the internal struggles that come with pursuing our dreams. “Growing Pains” is a beautifully crafted track and should be on the end sequences of a film.
