Extra Space - “Toothpaste”
Brooklyn-based indie rockers Joey Puleio and Chris Kyle, aka Extra Space, are back on the blog with their delightful brand of lo-fi indie rock. This time, their wonderfully enchanting sound arrives in the form of their most recently released single, “Toothpaste.”
They do not waste anyone’s time here, beginning immediately with all instruments in attendance. A crisp beat is provided at no extra charge, with a deep kick and tight snare– precisely the way it’s supposed to sound. This exquisite rhythm is supported by deep bass and shimmering guitar chords, which thusly allow for the most opportune time to reveal the greatest instrument in the entire universe: the lap steel.
“Toothpaste” feeds us the arrangement’s resounding goodness long enough for the vocals to arrive, which have also been treated with a substantial coat of reverb, allowing the tune to conjure comparisons to the likes of Big Thief and Lord Huron. A soft harmony dances along the edge of the lead, ensuring that listeners receive complete and total sonic satisfaction as the production saturates all four corners of the soundscape.
In its just-over-four-minute duration, “Toothpaste” takes its listeners on a revitalizing and chill journey through multiple layers of guitars and a gentle rhythm that begs to be played on every late-night roadtrip. We hope that you will take this into careful consideration– whether you’re driving across the country or simply to the convenience store, this song will definitely get you there.
“Toothpaste” is the duo’s second single from their forthcoming album, Green Season. And though we have not been provided with a release date, we can pretty much guarantee that we will be featuring another single or two with further details. Enjoy.
