Peter Deaves - “Gasoline”

For those of you who are fans of Radiohead and/ or Neutral Milk Hotel, please sit back and let Peter Deaves’ new track, “Gasoline,” charm you to the ends of the Earth.

The Liverpool-born, Paris-based songwriter has delivered quite the dynamic dish with this one. And Deaves does not waste a single bit of musical real estate, immediately beginning his vocal performance at the gate atop a chill display of acoustic guitar.

An upbeat rhythm soon arrives, shuffling the song forward with a peppy momentum as some bass fastens down the bottom end. If you are not immediately swept away by the sounds of “Gasoline,” the pre-chorus will certainly finish the job, ushering in some swelling layers of backing vocals while Deaves reaches into his remarkable upper register.

Of course, these layers remain for the epically imbued hook, which is truly mesmerizing as it stretches out into the far ends of the sonic space. Complete with electric guitar and a variety of keys, including piano and organ, it is bound to have you singing the lyrics to yourself long after the song has ended.

The ebb and flow provided by the swiftness of the verses and half-time choruses is sure to astound all who hear. In fact, we have not been able to stop spinning “Gasoline” since it landed in our stack of submissions– we are confident that you will feel the same once you’ve pressed that play button.

Gasoline” comes ahead of Peter Deaves’ new LP, due out on March 15th.
